Resumo: This article presents partial results of a research in development at the Doctorate in Education of the State University of Londrina, whose main objective is to know how children understand the city in which they live. The methodology used is action research. The researcher follows a group of 49 children from a public school in Londrina during the first three years of elementary school. The analysis focuses on the spaces portrayed by the children in the drawings and, although preliminary, point out places they pass by, such as houses, recreational areas, and downtown area. The theoretical framework is anchored in studies of Childhood Sociology and the study of the city.

La metodología utilizada es la investigación de acción. Las investigadoras siguen a un grupo de 49 niños de una escuela pública en Londrina durante los primeros tres años de la escuela primaria. El análisis se centra en los espacios representados por los niños en los dibujos solicitados y, aunque sea preliminar, indica sus lugares de tránsito, como la vivienda, los espacios de ocio y el centro de la ciudad. El marco teórico está anclado en la Sociología de la Infancia y el estudio de la ciudad. Palabras llave: ciudad; niños; escuela; socialización.Apresentam-se os resultados parciais de uma pesquisa em desenvolvimento no Doutorado em Educação da Universidade Estadual de Londrina, cujo principal objetivo é conhecer como as crianças compreendem a cidade em que vivem. A metodologia utilizada é a pesquisa-ação. As pesquisadoras acompanham um grupo de 49 crianças de uma escola pública de Londrina durante os três primeiros anos do Ensino Fundamental. A análise se concentra nos espaços retratados pelas crianças nos desenhos solicitados e, apesar de preliminar, aponta os lugares de trânsito delas, como a moradia, os espaços de lazer e o centro da cidade.
