Assessment practices in Emergency Remote Teaching: a case study in Physics

Resumo: | This present study addresses the assessment of learning as an essential component of the teaching and learning processes, highlighting the importance of this discussion specifically during Emergency Remote Teaching. Through a qualitative research approach, using a case study method, the evaluative practices of six Physics teachers in the state high school network during the Emergency Remote Teaching in the city of Cajazeiras - PB were investigated. In order to collect information regarding the practices employed by the teachers during the pandemic period, we chose to use semi-structured interviews. The results indicated that during the remote period, assessment in Physics Education involved various tools such as online tests and printed activities. However, the use of data derived from these tools was primarily for recording grades and monitoring student attendance. Furthermore, we identified several challenges experienced by the educators associated with the educational guidelines established during the Emergency Remote Teaching, which ended up being distorted in daily practice. In summary, this study provided a broader understanding of the evaluative practices adopted by teachers in a pandemic scenario. |

A través de una investigación cualitativa, tipo estudio de caso, se investigaron las prácticas evaluativas de seis profesores de Física de la red estatal de Educación Secundaria durante la Enseñanza Remota de Emergencia en el municipio de Cajazeiras - PB. Con el fin de recopilar información sobre las prácticas empleadas por los profesores durante el período pandémico, optamos por el uso de entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados indicaron que, durante el período remoto, la evaluación en la Enseñanza de Física involucró diversos instrumentos, como exámenes en línea y actividades impresas. Por otro lado, el uso de los datos asignados a estos instrumentos se utilizó principalmente para registrar calificaciones y controlar la asistencia de los estudiantes. Además, identificamos varios desafíos experimentados por los docentes asociados con las pautas educativas establecidas durante la Enseñanza Remota de Emergencia, las cuales terminaron distorsionándose en la práctica diaria. En resumen, este estudio proporcionó una comprensión más amplia de las prácticas evaluativas adoptadas por los profesores en un escenario pandémico.O presente estudo trata da avaliação da aprendizagem como componente essencial dos processos de ensino e aprendizagem e destaca a importância dessa discussão, especificamente, durante o Ensino Remoto Emergencial. Por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo estudo de caso, investigaram-se as práticas avaliativas de seis professores de Física da rede estadual de Ensino Médio durante o Ensino Remoto Emergencial no município de Cajazeiras - PB. A fim de coletar as informações referentes às práticas empregadas pelos professores, durante o período pandêmico, optamos pelo uso de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os resultados indicaram que, durante o período remoto, a avaliação no Ensino de Física envolveu instrumentos diversos, como provas on-line e atividades impressas. Por outro lado, o uso dos dados atribuídos a esses instrumentos foi utilizado principalmente para o registro de notas e acompanhamento de frequência dos estudantes. Além disso, identificamos diversos desafios vivenciados pelos docentes associados às orientações educacionais estabelecidas durante o Ensino Remoto Emergencial e que acabaram por serem distorcidas na prática diária.
