The teaching of plants in the Basic Education: perceptions and challenges of teachers at schools in Municipal District of Alegrete (RS, Brazil)

Resumo: The contents about the plants are among the subjects that are standing out in researches on teaching, which has contributed to a change in the way the teaching-learning of Botany is realized by students and teachers. Moreover, the teaching about plants may be challenging and the search for strategies that improve this view, involves knowing the perceptions and difficulties of teachers. The purpose of this research was investigate the perception of teachers who teach Botany, concerns the teaching-learning process, at schools from education network in the Municipal District of Alegrete (RS, Brazil). For this study, it was accomplished an online questionnaire with the participating teachers. The results point to an encouraging aspect related to the teaching of plants, still little observed in the school context, which is the interest of teachers and the perception of them, that students like and are focused in the themes of Botany.  The Continuing Education may be an accessible way to minimize some of the difficulties pointed out by teachers, contributing with theoretical, didactic, methodological updating and space for reflection on contents and skills

Aún así, la enseñanza sobre las plantas puede ser desafiante y la búsqueda de estrategias que mejoren ese escenario, pasa por conocer las percepciones y las dificultades de los profesores. El objetivo de este trabajo fue investigar la percepción de los profesores que enseñan la Botánica, sobre el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, en escuelas de la red de educación del município de Alegrete (RS, Brasil). Para ello se realizó un cuestionario on-line con los profesores participantes. Los resultados apuntan a un aspecto positivo relacionado con la enseñanza de las plantas, aún poco registrado en el contexto escolar, que es el interés de los profesores y la percepción, por parte de los profesores, de que a los estudiantes les gustan y se interesan por los temas de Botánica. La formación continuada puede ser una vía accesible para minimizar algunas de las dificultades señaladas por los profesores, contribuyendo con la actualización teórica, didáctica y metodológica y con espacios de reflexión sobre contenidos y prácticas.Os conteúdos sobre as plantas estão entre os assuntos que vêm ganhando destaque nas pesquisas sobre ensino, o que vem contribuindo para uma mudança na forma como o ensino-aprendizagem de Botânica é percebido por estudantes e professores. Ainda assim, o ensino sobre as plantas pode ser desafiador e a busca por estratégias que melhorem esse cenário passa por conhecer as percepções e dificuldades dos professores. O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar como os professores que ensinam a Botânica, em escolas da rede de educação do município de Alegrete (RS, Brasil), percebem o tema e o processo de ensino-aprendizagem do mesmo. Para isso, foi realizado um questionário on-line com os professores participantes. Os resultados apontam para um aspecto animador relacionado ao ensino das plantas, ainda pouco registrado no contexto escolar, que é o interesse dos professores e a percepção, por parte dos professores, de que os estudantes gostam e se interessam pelos temas da Botânica.
