From sensors to sensations: considerations about esthesiologic body and the use of wearables technologies in artistic performances

Resumo: Our objective in this article is to analyze the use of wearable technologies in the scope of artistic performance. Our premise is that the artist's body connected by devices and expanded in the cyberspace is enclosed in a distinct digital form of communication that reconfigures the notion of bodily presence. Therefore, it engenders other ways of understanding the relationship of the performer's body with other bodies and with things, enhancing the expressive possibilities of affecting and being affected. The considerations presented are based on the philosophical notions of Merleau-Ponty, especially the concepts of the estheseologic body and intercorporeality.

Nuestra premisa es que el cuerpo del artista conectado por dispositivos y expandido en el ciberespacio está envuelto en una distinta forma digital de comunicación que reconfigura la noción de presencia corporal. En consecuencia, se engendran otras formas de entender la relación del cuerpo del intérprete con los otros cuerpos y con las cosas, eso aumenta las posibilidades expresivas de afectar y ser afectado. Las consideraciones presentadas se basan en las nociones filosóficas de Merleau-Ponty, especialmente los conceptos del cuerpo estesiológico y la intercorporalidad.Nosso objetivo com este artigo é analisar o acolhimento das tecnologias vestíveis no âmbito da performance artística. Temos como premissa que o corpo do artista conectado por dispositivos e expandido no ciberespaço está envolto em uma distinta forma digital de comunicação que reconfigura a noção de presença corporal. Consequentemente, são engendradas outras formas de compreender a relação do corpo do performer com os outros corpos e com as coisas, potencializando as possibilidades expressivas de afetar e ser afetado.
