Resumo: The research aims to improve Basic Mathematics classes through cooperative work between university students so that they can achieve meaningful learning as well as improve their performance in the course. The general objective was to establish the relationship that exists between cooperative work and meaningful learning in the students of the Basic Mathematics subject of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the 1st cycle of the University in Lima. The population was 150 students, being a probabilistic sample of 108 students. A descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional methodology was used. The theoretical support of cooperative work is the theory of Jonshon and Jonshon; for meaningful learning, David Ausubel's theory. It is concluded that there is a relationship between cooperative work and significant learning in university students in the Basic Mathematics course.

El objetivo general fue establecer la relación que existe entre el trabajo cooperativo y el aprendizaje significativo en los estudiantes de la asignatura de Matemática Básica de la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales del I ciclo de una universidad de Lima. La población fue de 150 estudiantes, siendo una muestra probabilística de 108 estudiantes. Se utilizó una metodología de tipo descriptivo-correlacional, no experimental, transversal. El soporte teórico de trabajo cooperativo es la teoría de Jonshon y Jonshon; para el aprendizaje significativo, la teoría de David Ausubel. Se concluye que existe relación entre el trabajo cooperativo y el aprendizaje significativo en estudiantes universitarios en el curso de Matemática Básica. O objetivo geral foi estabelecer a relação existente entre trabalho cooperativo e aprendizagem significativa nos alunos da disciplina de Matemática Básica da Faculdade de Direito e Ciências Sociais do 1º ciclo da Universidade de Lima. A população era de 150 estudantes, sendo uma amostra probabilística de 108 estudantes. Foi utilizada uma metodologia descritiva-correlacional, não experimental, transversal. O suporte teórico do trabalho cooperativo é a teoria de Jonshon e Jonshon; para aprendizado significativo, a teoria de David Ausubel.
