Initial teacher training in mathematics and its influence on educational improvement of students with special needs

Resumo: This paper is part of a research project supported by the Junta de Castilla y León and the Office for Innovation and Educational Equity, with the aim of promoting the development of mathematical competence of students with special educational needs, poor academic results and/or motivation, through participatory and inclusive methodologies. Thus, it is designed, testing and evaluated a learning mathematics workshop for students with learning difficulties. This is relevant in order to take a further step in the task of training future teachers in the construction of a professional knowledge, according with the current view of teaching and learning mathematics. We have design and develop this workshop in the subject Methodology in the specialty of Mathematics in the Master Program of Secondary Education. It is proven by sufficient evidence that with these procedures, it is reached more knowledge to the math curriculum and more positive results.
