Teaching in Higher Education: teacher training, initiation and professional development

Resumo: The present research aimed to understand the formation and professional development of beginning teachers who work in Higher Education, in this way, the problem focuses on the following questioning; how is the initiation and professional development of higher education teachers going? In this perspective, we carried out a qualitative research with semi-structured interviews with two teachers beginning in teaching in Higher Education, one with a bachelor's degree and the other with a bachelor's degree. The results showed that there is a need for continuing education for beginning teachers as this is a period characterized by new challenges and that requires training, support and professional socialization. Finally, as final considerations, we point out the need to expand research that contributes to the training and practice of teachers beginning in Higher Education.

Finally, as final considerations, we point out the need to expand research that contributes to the training and practice of teachers beginning in Higher Education.A presente pesquisa objetivou compreender a formação e o desenvolvimento profissional de professores iniciantes que atuam no Ensino Superior, desta forma, a problemática centra-se no seguinte questionamento; como está sendo a iniciação e o desenvolvimento profissional dos professores do Ensino Superior? Nesta perspectiva, realizamos uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa com entrevistas semiestruturadas com duas professoras iniciantes na docência no Ensino Superior, uma com formação em bacharelado e outra com formação em licenciatura. Os resultados evidenciaram que há necessidade de formação continuada para os professores iniciantes visto que este é um período caracterizado por novos desafios e que necessita de formação, apoio e socialização profissional. Por fim, como considerações finais apontamos a necessidade de ampliação das pesquisas que contribuem para a formação e prática dos professores iniciantes no Ensino Superior.
