Resumo: | This article aims to analyze the relevance of afro-brazilian tales in the context of education for ethnic-racial relations, in addition to highlighting the importance of non-hegemonic representations for the construction of an anti-racist and critical education. For this, use Carneiro (2005); Evaristo (2009; 2016); Gomes (2012); Woodward (2000); between others. In a preliminary way, it can be seen that working with Afro-Brazilian literature, in addition to being imperative, since the enactment of Law nº 10.639/03, amended by Law nº 11.645/08, which establishes the mandatory teaching of Afro History and Culture afro-brazilians and indigenous people in education networks, is also essential for the formation of critical citizens, who problematize hegemonic discourses and fight prejudices. |

Para isso, utiliza-se, como aporte teórico, Carneiro (2005); Evaristo (2005; 2014); Gomes (2012); Woodward (2000); entre outros. De modo preliminar, percebe-se que o trabalho com a literatura afro-brasileira além de ser imperativo, desde a promulgação da Lei nº 10.639/03, alterada pela Lei ° 11.645/08, que institui a obrigatoriedade do ensino de História e Cultura afro-brasileiras e indígenas nas redes de ensino, é também essencial para a formação de cidadãos críticos, que problematizem discursos hegemônicos e que combatam preconceitos.
