Critical theory, critical pedagogy, and critical information literacy: common theoretical grounds for information Science

Resumo: Objective: The main objective is to reflect on the theoretical approaches, with regard to the role of emancipation, in the Frankfurt School, in Freire, and critical information literacy and their implications in Information Science (IS). Methodology: Methodologically, it is an argumentative and critical text based on a literature review of the literature. Results: It was found that critical theory, critical pedagogy, and critical information literacy are themes that are epistemologically close in relation to their emancipatory nature. Conclusion: It is concluded that critical theory, critical pedagogy, and critical information literacy belong to different historical-social contexts, form a tripod, a consistent theoretical body in order to rethink the model of Education in the world, in a more free and democratic way affecting other domains such as IS.

Metodología: Metodológicamente es un texto argumentativo y crítico basado en una revisión bibliográfica. Resultados: Se encontró que la teoría crítica, la pedagogía crítica y la alfabetización informacional crítica son temas epistemológicamente cercanos en lo que respecta a su carácter emancipatorio. Conclusión: Se concluye que la teoría crítica, la pedagogía crítica y la alfabetización informacional crítica pertenecen a diferentes contextos histórico-sociales, forman un trípode, un cuerpo teórico consistente para repensar el modelo de Educación en el mundo, de una manera más liberadora y democrática, y que afecta otros dominios como el de CI.Objetivo: O objetivo principal é refletir acerca das aproximações teóricas, no que tange ao papel da emancipação, na Escola de Frankfurt, em Freire e na competência crítica em informação e as implicações deste tripé epistemológico na Ciência da Informação (CI). Metodologia: Metodologicamente trata-se de um texto argumentativo e critico fundamentado por uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura. Resultados: Foi verificado que a teoria crítica, a pedagogia crítica e competência crítica em informação são temáticas que se aproximam epistemologicamente em face das suas naturezas emancipatórias.
