Resumo: | This paper aims to investigate the role of the teacher-tutor online in the scenario of Distance Education, inview of the expansion of this modality in the field of higher education, considering the constant innovation ofInformation Technology and Communication. This is a relevant and significant relevance in view of thegrowth of this sport in recent years, both as a percentage of enrollment courses. This text is an excerpt from alarger study, developed a private institution of higher education Distance, with the subject teachers / tutorsand students of Pedagogy and Administration. Studies of teaching and / or teacher-tutor has revealed keyfeatures to the process of teaching and learning in Virtual Environment. When dealing with the teaching inthe field of distance education, some tensions are evident mainly in the role of tutor online, suggesting theexpansion and finding new meanings for the roles of the teacher-tutor in cyberspace. It is noteworthy, inactuality, that online tutoring is conquering new spaces, and merging with the teacher and educator, andtherefore drives the debate and studies on different dimensions. We conclude that there is an evident need toassign the tutor, new perspectives of pedagogical mediation, ie, give the tutor, the same powers of teaching,the teacher. Discourse of students and teachers, subjects in this study highlighted the need for new challengesand new meanings about the tutor and teaching, in order to cope with the current demands of DistanceEducation. |

Trata-se de um tema relevante ,considerando o crescimento dessa modalidade nos últimos anos, tanto em percentuais de cursos como dematrículas. Este texto é um recorte de uma pesquisa mais ampla, desenvolvida em uma instituição privada doEnsino Superior a Distância, tendo como sujeitos professores/tutores e alunos dos cursos de Pedagogia eAdministração. Estudos relativos à docência e/ou ao professor-tutor têm revelado característicasfundamentais para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem em Ambiente Virtual. Ao tratar da docência nocampo da educação a distância, algumas tensões se evidenciam, principalmente quanto ao papel de tutor online,o que sugere a ampliação e a busca de novos significados para as funções do docente-tutor nociberespaço. Vale ressaltar, na atualidade, que a tutoria on-line tem conquistado novos espaços, mesclandocom o de professor e educador, e esse fato também impulsiona o debate e estudos sobre diferentes dimensões.Nesse sentido, acreditamos que fica evidente a necessidade de atribuir ao tutor novas perspectivas da mediação pedagógica, ou seja, conferir ao tutor as mesmas atribuições da docência, do professor. As falas dos alunos e professores, sujeitos deste estudo, evidenciaram a necessidade de novos desafios e ressignificações sobre o tutor e a docência visando ao enfrentamento das demandas atuais da Educação a Distância.
