Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships and the question about the improvement of the quality of basic education

Resumo: The purpose of this article was to discuss the impacts of PIBID on the improvement of the quality of basic education, from the perspective of those who compose it. It is one of the categories of analysis discussed in a broader research of qualitative approach that relied on document analysis and semi-structured interview as main instruments of construction and data analysis. The interviews were performed with six coordinators, seven supervisors, four collaborators and forty-eight scholarship students of four subprojects of a Brazilian federal university in 2013. The results showed that PIBID, although supporting new and different activities in schools, it cannot contribute, by itself, to improve the quality of basic education. This is because a program is unable to single-handedly change the Brazilian educational reality.

This is because a program is unable to single-handedly change the Brazilian educational reality. El objetivo de este artículo fue discutir los impactos del Pibid (Programa Institucional de Beca de Iniciación a la Docencia) en la mejoría de la calidad de la educación básica, bajo la óptica de aquellos que lo componen. Se trata de una de las categorías de análisis discutidas en una investigación más amplia, de abordaje cualitativo y que tuvo en el análisis documental y en la entrevista semiestructurada los principales instrumentos de construcción y análisis de los datos. Las entrevistas analizadas fueron realizadas con seis coordinadores, siete profesores supervisores, cuatro profesores colaboradores y 48 alumnos becarios de cuatro subproyectos del Pibid de una universidad federal brasileña en el segundo semestre de 2013. Los resultados muestran que el Pibid, a pesar de favorecer la realización de nuevas y diferentes actividades en las escuelas a él vinculadas, no hay condiciones de contribuir, por sí mismo, para la mejoría de la calidad de la educación básica. Esto ocurre por el hecho de que un programa, de manera aislada, no tiene condiciones de, solo, modificar la realidad educacional brasileña.Objetivamos neste artigo discutir os impactos do Pibid na melhoria da qualidade da educação básica, sob a ótica daqueles que o compõem. Trata-se de uma das categorias de análise discutidas em uma pesquisa mais ampla, de abordagem qualitativa e que teve na análise documental e na entrevista semiestruturada os principais instrumentos de construção e análise dos dados. As entrevistas aqui analisadas foram realizadas com seis coordenadores, sete professores supervisores, quatro professores colaboradores e 48 alunos bolsistas de quatro subprojetos do Pibid de uma universidade federal brasileira no segundo semestre de 2013. Os resultados mostram que o Pibid, apesar de favorecer a realização de novas e diferentes atividades nas escolas a ele vinculadas, não tem condições de contribuir, por si só, para a melhoria da qualidade da educação básica.
