THE ‘JOURNALISTANDO’ GAME: evaluation of a digital educational game model for teaching journalism

Resumo: Today’s society requires education to prepare students to face new situations every day. The transition/transformation scenario of knowledge and work has profoundly changed education and training processes. It is understood that, in this context, education and technology are inseparable. In this sense, this study is related to the theme of learning based on digital games, focusing on the need to expand studies on the use of serious games as a teaching support method, given the changes perceived in the educational context since the emergence of Digital Technologies (DT). The aim is to present the results of the evaluation of a digital educational game proposal for teaching journalism. It is based on a case study carried out with 100 students from the first and second terms of the journalism course at a private university located in São Luís - MA. Based on the data collected through questionnaire, it was found that the game achieved the objectives initially set: it promoted motivation, engagement and the perception of learning. The results validated the digital educational game ‘Jornalistando’ as an effective method for teaching specific curricular content in undergraduate journalism courses.

El escenario de transición/transformación del saber, del trabajo y del conocimiento ha cambiado profundamente los procesos de educación y formación. Se entiende que, en este contexto, educación y tecnología son inseparables. Este estudio se vincula al tema del aprendizaje basado en juegos digitales, centrándose en la necesidad de ampliar los estudios sobre el uso de juegos serios como método de apoyo a la enseñanza, dado que los cambios percibidos en el contexto educativo se han producido con la aparición de las Tecnologías Digitales (TD). El objetivo aquí es presentar los resultados de la evaluación de una propuesta de juego educativo digital para la enseñanza del periodismo. Se basa en un estudio de caso realizado con 100 alumnos del primer y segundo cuatrimestre del curso de Periodismo de una universidad privada situada en São Luís - MA. A partir de los datos recogidos a través del cuestionario, se constató que el juego alcanzó los objetivos inicialmente previstos: promovió la motivación, el compromiso y la percepción del aprendizaje. Los resultados validaron el juego educativo digital ‘Jornalistando’ como método eficaz para la enseñanza de contenidos curriculares específicos en cursos de periodismo de pregrado.A sociedade atual exige que a educação prepare o aluno para enfrentar novas situações a cada dia. O cenário de transição/transformação dos saberes, do trabalho e do conhecimento mudou profundamente os processos de educação e formação. Compreende-se que, nesse contexto, educação e tecnologias são indissociáveis. Este estudo está atrelado ao tema da aprendizagem baseada em jogos digitais, focando-se na necessidade de ampliar os estudos sobre o uso de jogos sérios como método de apoio ao ensino, uma vez que as mudanças percebidas no contexto educacional ocorreram com a emergência das Tecnologias Digitais (TD). Dessa maneira, objetiva-se apresentar os resultados da avaliação de uma proposta de jogo educacional digital para o ensino do jornalismo. Parte-se de um estudo de caso realizado com 100 alunos do primeiro e segundo períodos do curso de Jornalismo de uma universidade particular, localizada em São Luís - MA. A partir dos dados coletados, através do questionário, percebeu-se que o jogo atingiu os objetivos inicialmente traçados: promoveu motivação, engajamento e percepção de aprendizagem.
