Resumo: This article aims at critiquing the alienating character of the so-called "prescriptive methodologies" in the field of physical education in Brazil and it presents, as a reference and counterpoint, some aspects from the development of capoeira and the possibility of dealing with this knowledge from the notion of theme complex.
