Resumo: The general objective of this article is to understand the role of the Institutional Teaching Initiation Scholarship Program - PIBID in the initial training of Geography teachers for Basic Education in contemporary times. The approach used in this research is qualitative, ex-post-facto. In view of the analysis and evaluation carried out through the responses obtained from the graduates of the Geography area, from PIBID/Subproject-Interdisciplinary, from Campi Mata Norte of UPE, it was concluded that PIBID provided differentiated training and attentive to the demands of schools, students, undergraduates, through objectives that favor teacher training for better professional qualification. El enfoque utilizado en esta investigación es cualitativo, ex-post-facto. A partir del análisis y valoración realizada a través de las respuestas obtenidas de egresados ​​del área de Geografía, del PIBID/Subproyecto-Interdisciplinario, del Campi Mata Norte de la UPE, se concluyó que PIBID brindó capacitación diferenciada y estuvo atento a las demandas. de escuelas, de estudiantes, de pregrados, a través de objetivos que privilegian la formación docente para una mejor calificación profesional. A abordagem empregada nesta pesquisa é a qualitativa, do tipo ex-post-facto. Diante da análise e da avaliação realizada por meio das respostas obtidas junto aos egressos da área de Geografia, do PIBID/Subprojeto-Interdisciplinar, do Campi Mata Norte da UPE, concluiu-se que o PIBID proporcionou uma formação diferenciada e atenta as demandas das escolas, dos alunos, dos licenciandos, por meio de objetivos que privilegiam a formação docente para uma melhor qualificação profissional.
