Resumo: This article aims, beyond translating into Brazilian Portuguese, to presentingan extent contextualization of Décoloniser l’esprit, an interview by Kenyan professor andliterary critic Ngugi wa Thiong’o to Le Monde Diplomatique wherein he harshly criticized theAfrican political class emphasizing the need to rethinking new policies, new attitudes towardsAfrican languages so as to think a real development of the continent. We could perceive basedon Antunes (2018) and Omari’s (1985) works how political interferences represent a realhindrance to Ngugi’s ideal legitimizing somewhat the criticism encountered in the interview.
