RESIST AND HOPE: THE CHALLENGES OF UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT IN DARK TIMES

This text is an acknowledgment to the colleagues of the School of Education of the Federal University of Minas Gerais [UFMG] who, in such difficult times, accepted the role of leading us, taking on the administration in the terms of 2018 to 2022 and 2022 to 2026. A difficult, but necessary, task, the administration of a university is considered by many as a huge burden and, by others, a path that distances them from the classroom and takes them closer to power. But there are also those who take on the administration as a democratic and solidary challenge, so that the University can be a scientific amd academic space in which teachers, professors, students and admnistrative technicians can give their life meaning, and extend this to the country. It draws attention, too, for the fact that, in this moment, the denial and fear of scientific discoveries, transformed by the current government in State politics, are added to the challenge of upholding democracy. However, as in other dark times, the rays of the rising sun, as Drummond said, ought to appear and paint our mornings with the colors of light and happiness.
