Resumo: This is a theoretical essay in which the objective went to debate the status of the Play for Physical Education. To this end, a brief historical contextualization was carried out, in relation to the emergence of teaching propositions resulting from the epistemological crisis that occurred from the 1970s onwards. They are pedagogical propositions whose contents have specific characteristics and particularities, typical of their historical and epistemological constitution. However, it can be noted that there is a kind of “accordant” element within these different trends, if not all, in most, namely: the play. Nevertheless, identifying it as a univocal element among them, in spite of supposing a certain elucidation, does not in itself become a formative prerogative, since it does not guarantee a conception elaborated your about it. Nor does it guarantee its effects for teaching, which is why we undertook the realization of this article, just like the thematic dossier that deals with this theme, in order to promote the resizing of the epistemological status of the Game within Physical Education.

Con este fin, se llevó a cabo una breve contextualización histórica en relación con el surgimiento de propuestas de enseñanza derivadas de la crisis epistemológica que se produjo a partir de la década de 1970. Son proposiciones pedagógicas cuyos contenidos tienen características y particularidades específicas, típicas de su constitución histórica y epistemológica. No obstante, se puede observar que existe un tipo de elemento “unívoco” dentro de estas tendencias diferentes, si no todas, en la mayoría, a saber: el juego. Sin embargo, identificarlo como un elemento unívoco entre ellas, a pesar de que puede suponer  cierta aclaración, no se convierte en una prerrogativa formativa, ya que no garantiza una concepción elaborada al respecto. Tampoco garantiza sus efectos para la enseñanza, razón por la cual emprendimos la preparación de este artículo, así como el dossier temático que discute este contenido, para que uno pueda repensar el estatus epistemológico del juego dentro de la Educación Física.Trata-se de um ensaio teórico, cujo fito central consistiu em debater o status do Jogo para a Educação Física. Para tanto, fez-se uma sucinta contextualização histórica em relação à eclosão das proposições de ensino decorrentes da crise epistemológica ocorrida a partir da década de 1970. São proposições pedagógicas das quais os conteúdos apresentam características e particularidades específicas, próprias de sua constituição histórica e epistemológica. Contudo, nota-se que há uma espécie de elemento “cônsono” no interior delas; senão em todas, na maioria: o jogo. Todavia, identificá-lo como elemento unívoco, malgrado possa supor certa elucidação, não se torna uma prerrogativa formativa, visto que não afiança uma concepção elaborada a seu respeito, também não assegura seus efeitos para o ensino.
