Resumo: | University dropout in Brazil is an increasingly evident problem, especially in Engineering courses at the IFSC/Campus Florianópolis. Dropout occurs when students abandon academic activities, causing significant social and personal harm. To reduce dropout and increase student retention, it is important to understand the individual, social, and knowledge factors that contribute to this phenomenon. Bernard Charlot's theory, which explores the student's relationship with knowledge, is valuable in this context. The Florianópolis campus implemented Engineering courses in 2013, but also faces dropout challenges. The analysis of the dropouts' responses revealed weaknesses in the dimensions of the relationship with knowledge: identity, epistemic and social. Some students were unable to create a relationship with the knowledge of the course and faced demotivation throughout graduation. Effective solutions must address these issues and promote a positive relationship with knowledge during graduation. |
