CHALLENGES FOR TEACHERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Resumo: It is evident, in contemporary times, the need to work on Environmental Education for a global change, in the medium and long term. Thus, this proposal constitutes, in the school environment, a promising space and time for the formation of conscious citizens capable of participating in the construction of a sustainable society. The objective of this writing was to analyze the panorama related to socio-environmental issues that are linked to pedagogical practice in the development of the school curriculum. The research was characterized as qualitative, in the case study modality, through the analysis of the answers of one hundred teachers of basic and higher education, of a semi-structured questionnaire on Environmental Education and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The answers of 16 teachers who work in Elementary School I were selected, in order to verify their conceptions about the limits and possibilities of developing EE in the curricular context. Based on empirical data, it was concluded that the implementation of Environmental Education in schools is necessary to train educators, since teaching and/or sharing knowledge on this topic requires appropriation, persistence and the constant search for the dynamization of activities, so that they can, in fact, consolidate a quality education and collaborate in the formation of subjects with sustainable habits.

Así, esta propuesta constituye, en el ámbito escolar, un espacio y tiempo promisorio para la formación de ciudadanos conscientes capaces de participar en la construcción de una sociedad sustentable. El objetivo de este escrito fue analizar el panorama relacionado con las cuestiones socioambientales que se vinculan a la práctica pedagógica en el desarrollo del currículo escolar. La investigación se caracterizó como cualitativa, en la modalidad de estudio de caso, a través del análisis de las respuestas de cien docentes de educación básica y superior, de un cuestionario semiestructurado sobre Educación Ambiental y Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). Se seleccionaron las respuestas de 16 docentes que actúan en la Enseñanza Básica I, con el fin de verificar sus concepciones acerca de los límites y posibilidades de desarrollar la EA en el contexto curricular. Con base en datos empíricos, se concluyó que la implementación de la Educación Ambiental en las escuelas es necesaria para la formación de educadores, ya que enseñar y/o compartir conocimientos sobre este tema requiere apropiación, persistencia y la búsqueda constante de la dinamización de las actividades, para que puedan, de hecho, consolidar una educación de calidad y colaborar en la formación de sujetos con hábitos sostenibles.Evidencia-se, na contemporaneidade, a necessidade de trabalhar a Educação Ambiental para uma mudança global, a médio e longo prazos. Assim, essa proposta constitui, no ambiente escolar, um espaço e tempo promissores para a formação de cidadãos conscientes e capazes de participarem da construção de uma sociedade sustentável. O objetivo desta escrita foi analisar o panorama relacionado às questões socioambientais que estão interligadas à prática pedagógica no desenvolvimento do currículo escolar. A pesquisa caracterizou-se como qualitativa, na modalidade estudo de caso, por meio da análise das respostas de cem professores da educação básica e superior, de um questionário semiestruturado sobre Educação Ambiental e Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). Selecionou-se as respostas de 16 professores que atuam no Ensino Fundamental I, com a finalidade de verificar suas concepções sobre os limites e possibilidades de desenvolver a EA no contexto curricular.
