INVESTIGATIVE BOTANY TEACHING: PROMOTING SCIENTIFIC LITERACY IN HIGH SCHOOL

Resumo: | Taking in account how hard is teaching Botany nowadays, how Botany is linked to the understanding of natural phenomena, and how crucial is the assimilation of scientific concepts and the understanding of the impacts of science and its technologies, we developed an Investigative Teaching Sequence (SEI) in order to make the teaching of Botany more motivating and contribute to the Scientific Literacy of high school students. This work has a quanti-qualitative nature and the methodological proposal developed is in agreement with the cognitive/cultural view of teaching. The work was carried out in a public high school in the countryside of Mato Grosso state, in the Amazon region (broad sense). There is a didactic potential in this SEI to promote advances in students' Scientific Literacy, its application provided students with the possibility of argumentation, construction of concepts and contact with the scientific method and the researcher-teacher the possibility of reflection on possible solutions for the investigative teaching strategies in student learning. |

There is a didactic potential in this SEI to promote advances in students' Scientific Literacy, its application provided students with the possibility of argumentation, construction of concepts and contact with the scientific method and the researcher-teacher the possibility of reflection on possible solutions for the investigative teaching strategies in student learning.Se desarrolló una Secuencia de Enseñanza Investigativa (SEI) para que la enseñanza de la Botánica sea más motivadora y contribuya a la Alfabetización Científica (CA) de los estudiantes de secundaria, considerando: el escenario actual de la enseñanza de la Botánica en Brasil, su importancia para la comprensión de los fenómenos naturales y respondiendo a la demanda de una enseñanza orientada a comprender la naturaleza de la ciencia, la asimilación de conceptos y la comprensión de los impactos de la ciencia y sus tecnologías. Este trabajo tiene un carácter cuantitativo cualitativo, siendo está propuesta metodológica desarrollada de acuerdo con la visión cognitivo/cultural de la enseñanza. El trabajo se llevó a cabo en una escuela pública del interior de Mato Grosso, en la región Amazonia Legal. Existe un potencial didáctico en esta SEI para promover avances en la Alfabetización Científica de los estudiantes, su aplicación brindó a los estudiantes la posibilidad de argumentación, construcción de conceptos y contacto con el método científico como al investigador docente la posibilidad de reflexionar sobre posibles soluciones en la formulación de estrategias de enseñanza investigativa en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes.Considerando o atual cenário de ensino de Botânica no país, sua importância para a compreensão dos fenômenos naturais e atendendo à demanda de um ensino voltado para o entendimento da natureza da ciência, da assimilação de conceitos e da compreensão dos impactos da ciência e das suas tecnologias, desenvolvemos uma Sequência de Ensino Investigativo (SEI) a fim de motivar ainda mais o ensino de Botânica e contribuir para a Alfabetização Científica (AC) de estudantes do Ensino Médio. Este trabalho possui uma natureza quanti-qualitativa e a proposta metodológica desenvolvida está em concordância com a visão cognitiva/cultural de ensino. O trabalho foi realizado em uma escola pública no interior de Mato Grosso, região da Amazônia Legal.
