Virtual Culture Circle as an arena promoting youth empowerment in health

Resumo: Educational practices imply the empowerment of adolescents to streng-then their voices in decision-making and behavioral changes in individual and collective health. Based on that, through an experience report with adolescents in the context of social vulnerabilities in Recife-PE, during a period of social isolation, this paper aims to encourage adolescents to develop youth empowerment in health through virtual culture circles. Therefore the culture circles proposed to discuss, in a virtual format, five themes: “Being a teenager”; “The adolescent’s role in the family, at school, and in the community”; “Youth vulnerabilities’’; “Education according to Paulo Freire and health education”; and “Empowerment for the promotion of individual and collective health, and social class”. The activities occurred during moments of searching for a favorable en-vironment for the dialogicity and free expression of the adolescents from drawing-story, podcast, poems, and the final construction of a journal. Thus, the adolescents approached educational technologies, as well as directed critical views and proposals for overcoming the determinants that, historically, limit the potential at this stage of life. Furthermore, as a consequence, the intervention made possible the reinvention of Freire-an culture circles, to bring out the adolescents’  potential, in addition to leading a process of liberation in the face of injustice, revealing a political and social act as a result.

Com base nisso, a partir dorelato de experiência realizado com adolescentes em contexto de vulnerabilidades sociais em Recife-PE, em período de isolamento social, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo animar os participantes para o desenvolvimento do empoderamento juvenil em saúde mediante a realização de Círculos de Cultura virtuais. Assim, os Círculos de Cultura propuseram discutir, em formato virtual, cinco temáticas: “Ser adolescente”; “O papel do adolescente na família, na escola e na comunidade”; “Vulnerabilidades juvenis”; “A educação segundo Paulo Freire e a educação em saúde”; e “Empoderamento para a promoção da saúde individual, coletiva, e de classe social”. As atividades ocorreram por meio de momentos de busca a um ambiente favorável para a dialogicidade e livre expressão dos adolescentes a partir de desenho-estória, podcast, poemas e a construção final de um jornal. Desse modo, os adolescentes aproximaram-se das tecnologias educacionais, bem como direcionaram visões críticas e de propostas desuperação aos determinantes que, historicamente, limitam o potencialnessa fase da vida.
