Para mudança deste cenário, acredita-se que a educação pode transformar a percepção cultural de abundância e de desperdício desse recurso em atitudes de responsabilidade e compromisso. Nessa perspectiva, acredita-se que metodologias que focam no aluno, colocando-o diante de problemas, mobilizando o seu potencial intelectual, são ferramentas de grande valia por estimular a observação e reflexão numa conduta ativa, podendo contribuir para melhorias socioambientais. Neste contexto, esta pesquisa objetivou avaliar como os processos metodológicos ativos e investigativos de ensino e aprendizagem contribuem para despertar o senso crítico nos alunos, no tocante às problemáticas socioambientais que envolvem a qualidade da água para consumo humano. Para tanto, o estudo teve como público alvo duas turmas do 2º ano do ensino médio de uma escola pública do município de Arcoverde localizado no semiárido pernambucano. O planejamento metodológico foi realizado com base no método de “Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas “adaptado à realidade local através de sete intervenções: (1) Tempestades de ideias, (2) Aulas expositivas e dialogadas, (3) Palestras, (4) Visita Técnica, (5) Roteiro Urbano, (6) Projeto interdisciplinares e (7) Exposição de fotos e banner. Estas foram desenvolvidas ao longo de um semestre e avaliadas pelos discentes através da aplicação de um questionário. O uso de metodologias ativas investigativas possibilitou estimular o protagonismo no processo de construção de novos conhecimentos, no qual a diversidade de estratégias facilitou a participação dos discentes e permitiu a complementação dos conteúdos. Assim, a partir de uma análise das intervenções, visualizou-se que: foi possibilitado aporte de conhecimento aos discentes de forma que participassem dialogando, descontruindo e construindo aprendizagem para atuar de forma mais segura nas intervenções seguintes; nos ambiente não formais utilizados, como visita técnica e roteiro urbano, observou-se a contextualização do conhecimento construído ao longo do semestre e diagnóstico de problemas socioambientais in loco; a interdisciplinaridade promoveu a participação ativa nas aulas das disciplinas interligadas e possibilitou maior sensibilização a partir dos saberes relacionados; e a socialização, através de informações sistematizadas e apresentadas, propiciou o protagonismo dos discentes. Quanto a avaliação realizada, com questionário aplicado, em suma, a participação nas intervenções foi considerada como boa pela maioria (45%), e o desenvolvimento das intervenções trouxe uma aprendizagem efetiva através de observação, pesquisas e reflexão. O estudo confirmou que os processos metodológicos ativos e investigativos de ensino e aprendizagem contribuem positivamente para a progressão de aprendizado dos discentes. Também, que as diferentes estratégias realizadas oportunizaram o envolvimento dos discentes, uma vez que elas visaram a aproximação e o aprendizado a partir da realidade deles. Outrossim, as metodologias aplicadas mostraram-se como diferencial para o ensino noturno, no qual as metodologias tradicionais comumente se destacam. Concluiu-se que as metodologias ativas contribuem para promoção da sensibilização ambiental, resultando na formação de cidadãos com olhar interdisciplinar e responsável acerca dos recursos hídricos e do meio ambiente.CAPESWater, as a finite resource, has suffered from unsustainable actions in the world. To change this scenario, it is believed that education can transform the cultural perception of abundance and waste of this resource into attitudes of responsibility and commitment. In this perspective, it is believed that methodologies that focus on the student, putting him to face the problems and mobilizing his intellectual potential, are tools of great value for stimulating observation and reflection in an active conduct, and can contribute to socio-environmental improvements. In this context, this research evaluates how the active and investigative methodological processes of teaching and learning contribute to awakening the critical sense in students with regard to socio-environmental issues that involve the quality of water for human consumption. For this purpose, the study aimed at two classes of the 2nd year of high school in a public school in the municipality of Arcoverde located in the semiarid region of Pernambuco. The methodological planning was based on the “Problem Based Learning” method adapted to the local reality through seven interventions: (1) Brainstorm, (2) Classes and dialogues, (3) Lectures, (4) Technical Visit, (5) Urban itineraries, (6) Interdisciplinary project and (7) Exhibition of photos and banner. Such activities were developed over a semester and evaluated by the students through the application of a questionnaire. The use of active investigative methodologies made it possible to stimulate the protagonism in the process of building new knowledge, in which the diversity of strategies facilitated the participation of the students and allowed the complementation of the contents. Thus, from an analysis of the interventions, it was seen that: it was possible to provide knowledge to the students so that they could participate in a dialogue, relaxing and building learning to act more safely in the following interventions; in the non-formal environments used, such as technical visits and urban itineraries, the contextualization of the knowledge built throughout the semester and the diagnosis of socioenvironmental problems in loco were observed. The interdisciplinarity promoted active participation in the classes of interconnected subjects and enabled greater awareness based on related knowledge and socialization; through systematized and presented information, promoted the protagonism of students. As for the evaluation carried out using the questionnaire applied, in short, the participation in interventions was considered to be good by the majority (45%), and the development of interventions brought effective learning through observation, research and reflection. The study confirmed that the active and investigative methodological processes of teaching and learning contribute positively to the students' learning progression. Also, the different strategies carried out made it possible for students to get involved, since they aimed at approaching and learning from their reality. Furthermore, the applied methodologies proved to be a differential for evening teaching, in which traditional methodologies commonly stand out.
