Resumo: This article aims to present the state of knowledge about English language teaching in the integrated high school. The analysis aimed to identify how existing perspectives and challenges forteaching this language as a foreign language in Brazil, through the history ofteaching in the country, such as changes and reforms in the Brazilian Educational system and their effects on the learning and teaching process. The results indicate that, despite the relevance of this language in the contemporary world, there are still many challenges to be faced in order to consolidate the teaching and learning of the English Language in Brazil, through public policies that provide opportunities for learning at school, teacher training and appropriate methodologies, in order to contribute to the educational process and critical development ofthe student.

El análisis tuvo como objetivo identificar las perspectivas y desafíos existentes en la enseñanza de esta lengua, desde el surgimiento de la enseñanza del inglés en Brasil como lengua extranjera, a través de un breve contexto histórico de la enseñanza del inglés en el país, los cambios y reformas en el sistema educativo brasileño y sus efectos en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Los resultados indican que, a pesar de la relevancia de este idioma en el mundo contemporáneo, aún quedan muchos desafíos por enfrentar para la consolidación de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje del idioma inglés en Brasil, a través de políticas públicas que brinden oportunidades para el aprendizaje en la escuela, el profesorado. formación y metodologías adecuadas, a fin de contribuir al proceso educativo y al desarrollo crítico del estudiante.O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar o estado de conhecimento sobre o ensino de língua inglesa no Ensino Médio Integrado. A análise visou identificar as perspectivas e os desafios existentes no ensino deste idioma, desde o surgimento do ensino da Língua Inglesa no Brasil como língua estrangeira, por meio de uma breve contextualização histórica do ensino de inglês no país, as mudanças e as reformas no sistema educacional brasileiro e seus efeitos no processo de ensino-aprendizagem.
