The Cartography on the board game: communicating the city’s Spaces through play

In this paper, we seek to understand the senses generated by cartography in feeling, interacting, and knowledge of the city through playing in the city and with the city. Was used the Peircean diagrammatic icon concept to understand the city map, geographic in nature, as a type of graphic representation, and the map in board games as a mediator in the process of cognition, interaction with the urban spaces, and in the affective relationships with these spaces. The board-map has fundamentals and purposes different from the geographic map. Instead of indicating practical possibilities for paths, its playful character aims to promote play with the city. As a result, it is highlighted that, when playing with the city, the player attributes meaning to the relationships that the map-based board game allows, since the diagram does not represent the city in its main relationships. However, it is open to the libertarian power of emotions and imagination favored by the ludic.
