Historical Consciousness and middle school textbooks:: a tool to combat racism

Resumo: The present research of Scientific Initiation aims to analyze the content of the most requested textbooks in the announcement of the 2020 National Textbook Program, by the municipal education network, in the city of Recife, capital of Pernambuco, aiming to point out how the racial issue is dealt with in the History textbooks, what is the type of historical consciousness prevalent in these books and to point out the importance of this concept in didactic materials produced for the Middle School Education, for the construction of an anti-racist mentality in students who have access to this material. Based on the History Didactics, on the theories of the historian Jörn Rüsen in dialogue with the theories of Paulo Freire, from the view of Abdias do Nascimento on the genocide of the black Brazilian people.

Visando apontar como a questão racial é tratada nessas obras, percebemos aspectos presentes no livro didático que são possíveis de serem trabalhados pela concepção de Jörn Rüsen de Consciência Histórica e apontamos a importância de seus conceitos em materiais didáticos voltados ao Ensino Fundamental Anos Finais, para a edificação de uma mentalidade antirracista nos estudantes que têm acesso a esse material.
