Alfabetização científica e ensino de biologia: uma análise de livros didáticos para o 1º ano do Ensino Médio

Resumo: In view of the relevance of scientific literacy for citizen education and the importance of science textbooks in the teaching of science, this work aims to analyze contents and language adopted in biology textbooks selected by the Brazilian National Textbooks Program (PNLD) regarding its contribution to the critical scientific education of our students. These results are discussed in the Brazilian context, highly heterogeneous, geographically and economically, and socially unequal, regarding the levels of functional illiteracy still prevalent in the country and recent governamental investments in public policies to promote education, such as the acquisition and distribution of school textbooks by PNLD. It is discussed whether, in their current molds, they are really able to subsidize the implementation of scientific literacy practices in face of this multifaceted reality.

Estes resultados são discutidos no contexto brasileiro, altamente heterogêneo geograficamente e desigual, econômica e socialmente, quanto aos níveis de analfabetismo funcional ainda prevalecentes no país e investimentos em políticas governamentais de fomento à Educação, como a aquisição e distribuição de manuais escolares pelo PNLD.
