Roles of the paraprofessionals in early childhood education in a municipality in the Pará

Resumo: The present research, aimed at identifying the roles assigned and performed by paraprofessionals in a municipality in the state of the Pará, in early childhood education institutions. Eleven individuals participated in the study, one special education coordinator and ten (10) paraprofessionals (six paraprofessionals - mediators and four paraprofessionals - caregivers). The interviews were carried out individually and with focus groups. In addition, it was verified that the two positions of paraprofessionals are justified in municipal normative, they are active in basic care: feeding, hygiene, and locomotion. Furthermore, enter other roles related to modifications in teaching, elaboration of materials, reports, among others. During the study, it also became evident that there was little interaction between the work of these professionals and early childhood education, even though this is the same level at which they work. Consequently, it is reflected that children in this educational stage have unique characteristics that need to be considered in the work.

Consequently, it is reflected that children in this educational stage have unique characteristics that need to be considered in the work.A presente pesquisa, teve como objetivo identificar os papéis atribuídos e desempenhados pelos profissionais de apoio escolar em um município do estado do Pará, em instituições de educação infantil. A abordagem foi qualitativa, do tipo descritiva e com delineamento estudo de caso, com 11 participantes, destes: coordenadora da educação especial e 10 profissionais de apoio escolar: seis profissionais de apoio escolar - mediadores e quatro profissionais de apoio escolar - cuidadores. Foram realizadas entrevistas individuais e com grupos focais. Constatou-se que os dois cargos de profissionais de apoio escolar estão justificados em normativa municipal, possuem atuação nos cuidados básicos: alimentação, higiene e locomoção, mas também adentram outros papéis, relacionados às modificações no ensino, elaboração de materiais, relatórios, dentre outros.
