Resumo: | This dissertation addresses the profile of the Brazilian Sign Language interpreter (ILS) acting in the Brazilian Legislative Power, more specifically the one who works in the Brazilian Sign Language screen space on TV Câmara. For this, the professional and technical specificities of its performance are investigated, in contrast to the hiring requirements formulated by the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies and other documents that guide its work. Therefore, it was attempted to identify the skills that make up the competence of this interpreter based on some models, notably the one proposed by Cavallo (2019). To support this research, we also used other authors from Interpretation Studies, such as, DIRIKE (2015; 2018), GILE (1998), BALESTRO E GOROVITZ (2021), PÖCHHACKER (2015), WADSENSJÖ (1998), among others. As a methodological approach, the research was conducted in a qualitative and quantitative manner, through bibliographic and documental analysis. The documents that guide the performance of the ILS in the TV Câmera environment were evaluated in a contrasting way, in order to identify the congruence both among them and in relation to the skills identified as necessary in this professional practice. We conclude that the performance of this interpreter is based on the technical and practical aspects of the Conference Interpreter's performance, despite its nature as a community interpreter, with a vocation to ensure the rights of the Deaf Community of Brazil. |
