Letras LibrasO presente trabalho de conclusão do curso de bacharelado em Letras-Libras, tem como objetivo fazer uma tradução comentada do livro de imagens originalmente em Inglês “frog, where are you?” de 1967 do autor e ilustrador estadunidense Mercer Mayer, e descrever o processo da tradução intersemiótica enfocando uma fonte visual (livro de imagens), e consequentemente analisar a versão na língua alvo visual-espacial Língua Brasileira de Sinais. Neste sentido, a questão que guia essa pesquisa seria: Quais as estratégias utilizadas na tradução intersemiótica de linguagem não verbal (livro de imagem) para linguagem verbal (vídeo em Libras)? Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, em que é feita uma análise das escolhas por meio da metodologia de tradução comentada. As reflexões ao longo do estudo foram embasadas em autores como: Guerini (2007), Camargo (1995), Britto (2012), Albres (2014, 2015, 2020), Rodrigues e Santos (2018) e Sutton-Spence (no prelo). Para essa pesquisa, as etapas do processo da tradução comentada foram fundamentais para a construção deste estudo: (i) observação detalhada das imagens do livro; (ii) construção e alimentação do diário de tradução; (iii) gravação da versão em Libras; (iv) edição das imagens do livro com o vídeo em Libras; (v) análise da versão em Libras, retradução e filmagem versão final. Como conclusão desse trabalho, verificou-se que as estratégias utilizadas na tradução do livro de imagem (linguagem não verbal) para Libras (linguagem verbal) foram: uso de classificadores para identificar os personagens não humanos, ao longo da história facilitando a sinalização; coesão na posição do corpo do tradutor com relação a imagem do livro, sendo que a imagem é a única referência visual para a tradução em Libras; uso do espaço sinalizante para descrever cenário, personagens e ação; antropomorfismo incluindo diálogo entre o personagem sapo e o menino ao final da história, para deixar mais claro o contexto para criança surda; e incorporação, para demonstrar ação através do corpo do tradutor. Observou-se, portanto, que as imagens do livro “frog, where are you?” influenciaram as escolhas estratégicas para a tradução em Libras, com foco no público infantil surdo.This course conclusion paper for a bachelor degree in Languages-Brazilian Sign Language aims to produce a commented translation of the image book entitled originally in English “frog, where are you?” of 1967 and written by the American author and illustrator Mercer Mayer. The paper also describes the process of intersemiotic translation focusing on a visual source (picture book) and analyzes the version in the target visual-spatial Brazilian Sign Language. In this sense, the question that guides this research is: What are the strategies used in the intersemiotic translation from non-verbal language (image book) to verbal language (video in Brazilian Sign Language)? This is a descriptive research, in which we analyze the choices using the commented translation methodology. The reflections throughout the study were based on authors such as Guerini (2007), Camargo (1995), Britto (2012), Albres (2014, 2015, 2020), Rodrigues and Santos (2018), and Sutton-Spence (in press). The stages of the commented translation process were fundamental for the construction of this study and consisted on (i) a detailed observation of the images in the book; (ii) the construction and supply of the translation diary; (iii) recording the Brazilian Sign Language version; (iv) editing the images of the book with the video in Brazilian Sign Language; and (v) analyze the Brazilian Sign Language version, retranslate, and film the final version. In conclusion, the strategies used to translate the image book (non-verbal language) to Brazilian Sign Language (verbal language) were the use of classifiers to identify non-human characters throughout the story[CdM1] , facilitating signaling; cohesion in the position of the translator's body in relation to the book's image, considering that the image is the only visual reference for the translation in Brazilian Sign Language; use of sign space to describe scenery, characters, and action; anthropomorphism, including dialogues between the frog character and the boy at the end of the story to better contextualize for deaf children; and incorporation, to demonstrate an action through the translator's body.
