Ethics in research in Education involving children with disabilities

Resumo: This paper aims to contribute to reflections on ethical matters present in studies in Education concerning children with disabilities. The acknowledgement of the child as a social actor and of their condition as right-holders requires new ethical dilemmas and approaches to the educational research with this public. The literature review in this paper is based on the Sociology of Childhood approach and on literature that approaches the matters regarding ethics in research in the area of Social and Human Sciences. The investigation conducted in this paper relies on documental research, via which we analyzed theses and dissertations in Education, conducted within Graduate programs at public and private higher education institutions in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and defended between 2016 and 2021. The analysis showed how researchers approach ethics in research involving children with disabilities. We conclude the paper highlighting the importance of promoting the theme within educational research spaces via studies and discussions on how ethical standards may contribute to manage ethical dilemmas in research.

Reconocer al niño como actor social y su condición de sujeto de derechos exige nuevos enfoques y dilemas éticos en la investigación educativa con este público. La base teórica se fundamenta en la perspectiva de la Sociología de la Infancia y en referencias teóricas que abordan asuntos relacionados con la ética en investigaciones del área de las Ciencias Sociales y Humanas. Se basa en una investigación documental en la que se analizaron tesis y disertaciones del área de Educación en Programas de Posgrado en Educación de instituciones de educación superior públicas y privadas en Rio Grande do Sul, defendidas entre 2016 y 2021. El análisis revela cómo los investigadores articulan la ética en la investigación relativa a niños con discapacidades. La conclusión muestra la importancia de fomentar el tema en los espacios de investigación educativa a través de estudios y discusiones sobre cómo las normas éticas pueden ayudar a gestionar los dilemas de la ética en la investigación.Este artigo tem como objetivo contribuir para as reflexões sobre as questões éticas presentes em estudos da Educação envolvendo crianças com deficiência. O reconhecimento da criança como ator social e de sua condição de sujeito de direitos demanda novas abordagens e dilemas éticos na pesquisa educacional com esse público. A fundamentação teórica deste trabalho ancora-se na perspectiva da Sociologia da Infância e em referenciais teóricos que abordam as questões envolvendo a ética em pesquisas na área das Ciências Sociais e Humanas. A investigação em foco neste artigo toma como base uma pesquisa documental na qual foram analisadas teses e dissertações da área de Educação, realizadas em programas de pós-graduação de instituições de ensino superior públicas e privadas do RS, defendidas no período de 2016 a 2021. A análise revelou como os pesquisadores articulam a ética na pesquisa envolvendo crianças com deficiência.
