Resumo: New technologies, the Internet in particular, have revolutionized foreign language teaching and related disciplines, such as translation and interpreting. Digital journalism has also emerged from this revolution, allowing us to not only to be instantly informed about what is happening across the world, but also access and read real texts in different languages. Such access could be crucial to developing the cultural and linguistic competencies of future translators or interpreters. In this article we perform a didactic analysis of errors of meaning identified in digital journalistic texts written in Spanish. Specifically, we analyse interferences produced by semantic “false friends” that result from translating Portuguese texts into Spanish. Taking into consideration the main characteristics of journalistic translation, we analyse the meaning of five terms in the Portuguese language and the reasons that could lead to misunderstandings in meaning within the analyzed journalistic news in Spanish.
