Here is an exhibit of our perception about the beginning of a Degree in Mathematics in distance modality in the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, which has the goal to characterize the initial movements of the constitution of this degree course. Such perceptions are outcomes from a Master's degree thesis that was produced from five interviews, following the methodological design outlined by Oral History and its transcription and textualization resources. This methodology is used in Mathematics Education, in particular by the Oral History of Mathematics Education Group (GHOEM) and History of Mathematical Education in Research (HEMEP). We highlight two movements: (i) the history of the degree course and; (ii) the actions before its foundation (i.e., parcellate and short-degrees) that were understood as continuous actions.
