Resumo: Specialized translation differs from literary translation as it requires in-depth research and investigation by the translator due to the wide use of specific terminologies. The final product of this type of translation presents a text influenced by extralinguistic factors, such as the local economy, ideological discourses of the society in which it is inserted, that is, the culture of an interpretive community. In the field of culinary recipe translation, there are several peculiarities that make the work even more complex, as it is a specific domain genre in which terminology, style and cultural aspects are constantly marked. Thus, this study aims to analyze three Brazilian cooking recipes, written in Brazilian Portuguese, and their translation into English (American), in order to understand how the translator deals with the problems of this textual genre, between this pair of languages, in addition to verifying which strategies and paths are used to solve problems and/or cultural differences.

No campo da tradução de receitas culinárias, há diversas peculiaridades que tornam o trabalho ainda mais complexo, por se tratar de um gênero de domínio específico em que terminologia, estilo e aspectos culturais aparecem constantemente marcados.
