O problema de investigação indaga qual a relação entre a construção do imaginário dos destinos turísticos e o papel da Film Commission. O objetivo geral foi de descrever a Film Commission e a indústria cinematográfica como ferramenta de promoção do destino turístico. Neste trabalho, utilizamos uma abordagem qualitativa com a aplicação de entrevistas estruturadas a pessoas fontes, foram descritos alguns destinos mundiais e casos brasileiros de política promocional com a utilização de audiovisuais e políticas de apoio das localidades como a Film Commission. A pesquisa evidenciou que a produção de um filme em certa localidade não é suficiente para trazer retorno direto no aumento do fluxo turístico ou na promoção da localidade como um destino turístico. The research problem asks what is the relationship between the construction of the tourist destinations imaginary and the role of the Film Commission. The overall objective to description was to analyze Film Commission and the film industry as a tool for promoting the tourist destination. In this paper we use a qualitative approach with the application of structured interviews to source people, were described some worldwide destinations and Brazilian cases of promotional policy with the use of audiovisual and local support policies such as the Film Commission. The research showed that it is not enough to produce a movie in a certain locality for this action to bring direct return in the increase of the tourist flow or the promotion of the locality as a destination.
