Spanish speakers’ representations of their written production in Portuguese

This work addresses the process of teaching Portuguese as a non-native language to Spanish speakers who are in a context of immersion in Brazil. It aims to identify the representations (MOSCOVICI, 2015; AMOSSY; PIERROT, 2001; KULIKOWSKI; GONZÁLEZ, 1999) that these students have of the Portuguese language and how they are reflected in their written production in the classroom. The theoretical framework is based on a qualitative and interpretive approach (HOLMES, 1992; MOITA LOPES, 1994) through action research (THIOLLENT, 1985, cited by BALDISSERA, 2001). The data is obtained from two sources: (i) a questionnaire and (ii) students’ texts written in the classroom, and its analysis provides a widening of the discussion about the teaching and learning of Portuguese to Spanish speakers.
