Resumo: Scientific research is the main instrument that enables the advances of science and the progress of humanity; the method is the way to perform the search. However, it is common for academics to face difficulties in understanding and mastering methodologies for research development. The aim of this article is to approach the process of structuring the main methodologies of scientific research adopted in Brazilian universities. This is a bibliographic research, of qualitative character, seeking theoretical support to the proposed discussion. This study is important because it explains important aspects about methodologies in the academic sphere, assisting and guiding the student regarding the standards of research and scientific production. The scientific methodology provides techniques for better performance and quality of scientific production, besides contributing to the critical training and scientific spirit of the researcher.

Sin embargo, es común que los académicos enfrenten dificultades para comprender y dominar las metodologías para el desarrollo de la investigación. El objetivo de este artículo es abordar el proceso de estructuración de las principales metodologías de investigación científica adoptadas en las universidades brasileñas. Se trata de una investigación bibliográfica, de carácter cualitativo, que busca el apoyo teórico a la discusión propuesta. Este estudio es importante porque explica aspectos importantes sobre las metodologías en el ámbito académico, asistiendo y guiando al estudiante con respecto a los estándares de investigación y producción científica. La metodología científica proporciona técnicas para un mejor desempeño y calidad de la producción científica, además de contribuir a la formación crítica y al espíritu científico del investigador.A pesquisa científica é o principal instrumento que possibilita os avanços da ciência e o progresso da Humanidade; o método é o caminho para realizar a pesquisa. No entanto, é comum acadêmicos enfrentarem dificuldades na compreensão e domínio das metodologias para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa. O objetivo deste artigo é abordar o processo de estruturação das principais metodologias da pesquisa científica adotadas nas universidades brasileiras. Trata de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, de caráter qualitativo, buscando sustentação teórica à discussão proposta. Este estudo é importante porque vem esclarecer aspectos importantes sobre as metodologias, no âmbito acadêmico, auxiliando e orientando o estudante quanto às normas de investigação e produção científica.
