Overview of publications on Mathematical Modeling in four journals of the teaching area

Resumo: | In view of the relevance of Mathematical Modeling in the area of Mathematical Education, we seek, based on articles from four periodicals with more than 25 years of existence and which were well evaluated by CAPES in teaching area, to outline an overview of publications on Mathematical Modeling, which covers the period of 1994 to 2019. The objective was to investigate what has been discussed, how it has been treated, what has been published about Mathematical Modeling and, with that, list aspects and point out characteristics of the publications that involve it. For this, searches were carried out on the websites of four journals that fit the criteria we established, thus obtaining ninety-two articles. Such articles were categorized according to the central themes that they deal with, on the criticality or not of the proposals they convey, according to the school levels in which proposals for Mathematical Modeling were developed and in relation to the contents that were addressed in these activities. The analyzes point out the main themes addressed over the past 26 years in these four journals, the predominance of critical perspective in the proposals for Mathematical Modeling, the preference for the development of Mathematical Modeling in high school and university education and the greater incidence of mathematical content related to functions. We believe that the discussions and suggestions presented in this article can enrich and direct new works that may involve Mathematical Modeling in Mathematical Education. |

El objetivo era investigar qué se ha discutido, cómo se ha tratado, qué se ha publicado sobre Modelización Matemática y, con eso, enumerar aspectos y señalar características de las publicaciones que lo involucran. Para eso, se realizaron búsquedas en los sitios web de cuatro revistas que se ajustan a los criterios que establecimos, obteniendo así noventa y dos artículos. Dichos artículos se clasificaron de acuerdo con los temas centrales que tratan, sobre la criticidad o no de las propuestas que transmiten, de acuerdo con los niveles escolares en los que se desarrollaron las propuestas para la Modelización Matemática y en relación con los contenidos que se abordaron en estas actividades. Los análisis señalan los temas principales abordados en los últimos 26 años en estas cuatro revistas, el predominio de la perspectiva crítica en las propuestas para la Modelización Matemática, la preferencia por el desarrollo de la Modelización Matemática en la escuela secundaria y la educación superior y la mayor incidencia del contenido matemático relacionado con funciones. Creemos que las discusiones y sugerencias presentadas en este artículo pueden enriquecer y dirigir nuevos trabajos que pueden involucrar la Modelización Matemática en la educación matemática.Diante da relevância da Modelagem Matemática na área da Educação Matemática, buscamos, a partir de artigos de quatro periódicos com mais de 25 anos de existência e que foram bem avaliados pela CAPES na área de ensino, traçar um panorama das publicações sobre Modelagem Matemática, que abrange o período de 1994 a 2019. O objetivo foi investigar o que se tem discutido, como se tem tratado, o que se tem publicado a respeito de Modelagem Matemática e, com isso, elencar aspectos e apontar características das publicações que a envolvem. Para isso, foram realizadas buscas nos sites de quatro periódicos que se enquadram nos critérios que estabelecemos, obtendo assim, noventa e dois artigos. Tais artigos foram categorizados segundo os temas centrais que eles tratam, sobre criticidade ou não das propostas que veiculam, segundo os níveis escolares em que propostas de Modelagem Matemática foram desenvolvidas e com relação aos conteúdos que foram abordados nessas atividades. As análises apontam as principais temáticas abordadas ao longo dos últimos 26 anos nesses quatro periódicos, a predominância da perspectiva crítica nas propostas de Modelagem Matemática, a preferência de desenvolvimento de Modelagem Matemática no ensino médio e ensino superior e a maior incidência de conteúdos matemáticos relacionados a funções.
