Resumo: This article aims to show the evolution and the fundamentals of EAD, as well as to verify the students ' perception and opinion about this way of teaching. To do so, bibliographic searches were carried out in order to know the concepts, fundamentals and evolution of EAD, and later a field research with middle school students from the town of Sud Mennucci, which offers free wireless internet for the citizens, thus enabling access to online courses or semi-attendance. The research showed that the EAD is not so recent and is already a reality that is increasingly gaining space and even reaching small towns like Sud Mennucci.

Para tanto, foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas a fim de conhecer os conceitos, fundamentos e evolução da EAD e, posteriormente, uma pesquisa de campo com alunos do ensino médio da cidade de Sud Mennucci, a qual disponibiliza internet sem fio gratuitamente para os munícipes, possibilitando, assim, o acesso a cursos online ou semipresenciais.
