Perceptions of incoming academics in Physical Education degree about themselves and the teaching profession

Resumo: | The objective of this study was to analyze the perceptions of incomings academics of a degree course in Physical Education (PE) from a public university in the southern region of Brazil about themselves and the teaching profession. We characterized the research as qualitative in form of case study. The instrument for the collection of information was a questionnaire being the interpretation of the answers through of content analysis. Participated twenty incoming academics of the said course. We concluded that for the majority of the incoming academics studied the school trajectory in basic education influenced considerably the option fur degree course in PE as profession, predominating an unconscious option, because, at least if not reported well about it, bringing a conception of PE represented by sport and that therefore have an attractiveness by teaching oscillating between the yes and the no. |

Caracterizamos a pesquisa como qualitativa na forma de estudo de caso. O instrumento para a coleta de informações foi um questionário, tendo a interpretação das respostas por meio da análise de conteúdo. Participaram vinte acadêmicos ingressantes do referido curso.
