Resumo: This article presents reflections and analyzes about State of Knowledge type research and aimed to: 1- identify the specificities and relevance of this type of research for the development of new research and for the construction of new knowledge and 2- present the steps that make up the methodological procedures for conducting research of this type. For the development of this research, a theoretical-bibliographic survey was carried out based on studies already published on this subject by authors such as: Morosini and Fernandes, Ferreira, Soares, Silva e Silva, Novikoff, Fonseca, among others. The results show that State of Knowledge research consists of mapping and analyzing previously carried out studies and also allows examining what is already known and what still needs to be known, as well as the way (theoretical-methodological framework) how a certain topic has been investigated, thus contributing to the advancement of knowledge. This type of research can be carried out using a qualitative and/or quantitative approach, with an exploratory, descriptive and/or analytical objective, with documentary research as its main strategy.

Para el desarrollo de esta investigación se realizó un levantamiento teórico-bibliográfico a partir de estudios ya publicados sobre este tema por autores como: Morosini y Fernandes, Ferreira, Soares, Silva e Silva, Novikoff, Fonseca, entre otros. Los resultados muestran que la investigación del Estado del Conocimiento consiste en mapear y analizar estudios realizados con anterioridad y también permite examinar lo que ya se sabe y lo que falta por saber, así como la forma (marco teórico-metodológico) de cómo se ha venido abordando un determinado tema. investigado, contribuyendo así al avance del conocimiento. Este tipo de investigación se puede realizar con un enfoque cualitativo y/o cuantitativo, con un objetivo exploratorio, descriptivo y/o analítico, con la investigación documental como estrategia principal.O artigo apresenta reflexões e análises acerca das pesquisas do tipo Estado do Conhecimento e teve como objetivos: 1- identificar as especificidades desse tipo de pesquisa e a sua relevância para a construção de novos conhecimentos e 2- as etapas que compõem os procedimentos metodológicos para a realização dessas pesquisas. Para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa foi realizado um levantamento teórico-bibliográfico a partir de estudos já publicados sobre essa temática por autores como: Morosini e Fernandes, Ferreira, Soares, Silva e Silva, Novikoff, Fonseca, dentre outros. Os resultados apresentam que as pesquisas do tipo Estado do Conhecimento consistem no mapeamento e análise de estudos realizados anteriormente e permitem examinar o que já é conhecido e o que ainda precisa ser conhecido, bem como o modo (referencial teórico-metodológico) como que determinada temática tem sido investigada, contribuindo, assim, para o avanço do conhecimento.
