The emergence of curricular policy studies and the potential of their theoretical-methodological basis

Resumo: This study is included in the context of the existing curriculum policies in the 1990s in Brazil. It questions the analyses that are made of them and faces the challenge of thinking the connections between the material and symbolic factors in the theoretical-methodological tendencies in the researches of curricular policy, with the goal to comprehend the implications to the curriculum research field. In its development was used the notion of the curriculum policy as a cultural policy, supported by Macedo (2004) and Oliveira (2008), and the studies of Bowe & Ball (1992) and Ball (1997), recognizing them as a theoretical-methodological construction capable of guiding the study. The effects of the theoretical-methodological perspectives are significantly manifested in stricto sensu productions, for this reason, we decided to analyze these perspectives in dissertations and theses. These were selected from abstracts in Capes’ database, searching the ones defended between 1995 and 2002, reaching 15 dissertations and 8 theses. It was concluded that the curricular policy has become known as a study object, highlighting the potential of the perspectives developed from a cultural approach.

Se discuten los análisis que son hechos a partir de ellas y se enfrenta el desafío de pensar conexiones entre los factores materiales y los simbólicos en las tendencias teórico-metodológicas de investigaciones en política curricular con el objetivo de comprender las implicaciones para la investigación en el área del currículo. En su desarrollo se utiliza el concepto de política de currículo como una política cultural, respaldada por Macedo (2004) y Oliveira (2008) y los estudios de Bowe y Ball (1992) y Ball (1997), los reconociendo como construcción teórico-metodológica capaz de orientar el estudio. Los efectos de las perspectivas teórico-metodológicas se manifiestan sustantivamente en producciones stricto sensu, por esta razón la decisión de analizar estas perspectivas en disertaciones y tesis. La selección de estas fue obtenida desde resúmenes en el base de datos de la Capes, seleccionando las defendidas entre los años de 1995 y 2002, totalizando 15 disertaciones y 8 tesis. Se concluye que la política curricular surgió como un objeto de estudio, se destacando el potencial de las perspectivas desarrolladas a partir de la cultura.Este estudo se situa no contexto das políticas de currículo existentes nos anos de 1990 no Brasil. Questionam-se análises que delas são feitas e enfrenta-se o desafio de pensar conexões entre fatores materiais e simbólicos em tendências teórico-metodológicas de pesquisas em política curricular com o objetivo de compreender implicações para a pesquisa no campo do currículo. Em seu desenvolvimento, recorre-se à noção de política de currículo como política cultural, defendida por Macedo (2004) e Oliveira (2008), e aos estudos de Bowe e Ball (1992) e Ball (1997), reconhecendo-os enquanto construção teórico-metodológica capaz de nortear o estudo. Os efeitos de perspectivas teórico-metodológicas se manifestam substantivamente em produções stricto sensu, por isso a decisão em analisar tais perspectivas em dissertações e teses. A seleção destas foi obtida a partir de resumos do banco de dados da Capes, com recorte naquelas defendidas entre 1995 e 2002, chegando a 15 dissertações e 8 teses.
