Resumo: | The research objective was to verify the interaction between the relational capabilities, inter organizational trust, and diversity of the alliance portfolio in the passenger air transport industry. With a process design having positivism as a philosophy of science, empirical research was developed by studying twelve alliances that make up the portfolio of a focal airline's alliances. The alliances were analyzed based on semi-structured discoveries with alliance managers at partner airlines. The characteristics script was structured based on the literature review. The identifications were transcribed, and the data were propagated using categorical thematic content analysis. From four categories defined a priori, based on the theoretical framework, twenty-three interactions were identified between eighteen sub categories, which emerged during data analysis, generating you, not definitive, proposals for comparison between the constructs of interest. Crosswise, the constructs' performance of the alliance and interpersonal trust was found to permeate the constructs under study. The thesis's findings contribute to the theory of alliances, an event that shareholding influences relational capabilities; integration of the focal company into multilateral alliances; the process of building inter-organizational trust; and the performance of alliances. As for the theory of inter-organizational conflict, it contributes by highlighting shareholding participation as a political tactic. From the management point of view, it contributes by highlighting the alliance manager's role and the importance of his social skills, including conflict resolution skills. For public policies, the thesis contributes by highlighting the importance of a system of incentives for structuring and strengthening hubs (source centers) that have the relevant economic and social role for the regions in which they are located, which will require new regulations on the part of regulatory bodies |

Tendo como filosofia da ciência o positivismo, com delineamento por processo, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa empírica, por meio do estudo de doze alianças que compõem a carteira de alianças de uma companhia aérea focal. As alianças foram examinadas a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com os gestores das alianças nas companhias aéreas parceiras. O roteiro das entrevistas foi elaborado a partir da revisão da literatura. As entrevistas foram transcritas e os dados foram analisados por meio de análise de conteúdo temática categorial. A partir de quatro categorias definidas a priori, com base no referencial teórico, identificou-se vinte e três interações entre dezoito subcategorias, que emergiram durante a análise dos dados, gerando proposições-tentativas, não definitivas, de comparação entre os construtos de interesse. Transversalmente constatou-se a presença dos construtos desempenho da aliança e confiança interpessoal permeando os construtos em estudo. Os achados da tese contribuem para a teoria de alianças, apontando que a participação acionária influencia a capacidade relacional; a integração da empresa focal em alianças multilaterais; o processo de construção de confiança interorganizacional; e o desempenho das alianças. Já para a teoria do conflito interorganizacional contribui destacando a participação acionária como uma tática política. Do ponto de vista da gestão, contribui destacando o papel do gestor de alianças e a importância de suas competências sociais, incluindo competências de resolução de conflitos. Para as políticas públicas, a tese contribui destacando a importância de uma política de incentivos para estruturação e fortalecimento de hubs (centros de conexões) que têm relevante papel econômico e
