Resumo: This paper discusses the historical background of early childhood education in the main laws and documents that guide the Brazilian education from the perspective of gender. Many are the conflicts and barriers of early childhood education, but over the years several achievements have been achieved in terms of gender relations in this type of education. Organizing interaction among pairs within the early childhood institutions is a form to make opportunity of the most varied understandings of themselves, each other and reality.

Muitos são os conflitos e barreiras da educação infantil, porém, ao longo dos anos várias conquistas foram alcançadas na perspectiva das relações de gênero nessa etapa da educação básica. Oportunizar interações entre os pares nas instituições de atendimento à pequena infância é propiciar formas variadas de compreensão de si, do outro e da realidade.
