The importance of environmental education in the early years of elementary school

Resumo: This article is the result of a bibliographical review, regarding Environmental Education in the years of elementary school, with the objective of identifying how Environmental Education is worked at this stage of teaching. The contents covered in elementary school include transversal themes such as the environment, cultural plurality, citizenship education, and are covered across all other subjects. The teacher, as a mediator of the teaching and learning process, seeks, through his methodological practices, to awaken an awareness of the environment in his students, using appropriate tools to discuss the topic with students. In the various forms used in the development of Environmental Education, diversity depends on the participation of the community in the organization of projects, parents of students play an important role, with participation in the assembly of project structures related to practical studies used in elementary schools, becoming more cooperative, developing expectations about the recovery of the environment. Environmental Education in schools contributes to the formation of conscious citizens capable of deciding and acting in the socio-environmental reality, committed to society.

Los contenidos que se tratan en la escuela primaria incluyen temas transversales como el medio ambiente, la pluralidad cultural, la educación para la ciudadanía y se cubren en todas las demás materias. El docente, como mediador del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, busca, a través de sus prácticas metodológicas, despertar en sus estudiantes una conciencia sobre el entorno, utilizando herramientas adecuadas para discutir el tema con los estudiantes. En las diversas formas utilizadas en el desarrollo de la Educación Ambiental, la diversidad depende de la participación de la comunidad en la organización de los proyectos, los padres de los estudiantes juegan un papel importante, con participación en el montaje de las estructuras de los proyectos relacionados con los estudios prácticos utilizados en las escuelas primarias, volviéndose más cooperativos, desarrollando expectativas sobre la recuperación del medio ambiente. La Educación Ambiental en las escuelas contribuye a la formación de ciudadanos conscientes, capaces de decidir y actuar en la realidad socioambiental, comprometidos con la sociedad.Este artigo é resultado de uma revisão bibliográfica, a respeito da Educação Ambiental nos anos do ensino fundamental, teve como objetivo identificar como Educação Ambiental é trabalhada nessa etapa de ensino. Os conteúdos trabalhados no ensino fundamental incluem temas transversais como, meio ambiente, pluralidade cultural, educação cidadã, e são abordados perpassando todas as demais disciplinas. O professor como mediador do processo de ensino e aprendizagem, busca através das suas práticas metodológicas despertar em seus alunos uma consciência em relação ao meio ambiente, utilizando para isso, ferramentas adequadas para discutir a temática com os alunos. Nas variadas formas utilizadas no desenvolvimento da Educação Ambiental, a diversidade depende da participação da comunidade na organização de projetos, os pais de alunos desempenham um importante papel, com participação na montagem das estruturas de projetos relacionados aos estudos práticos utilizados nas escolas de ensino fundamental, tornando-se mais cooperativo, desenvolvendo expectativas sobre a recuperação do meio ambiente.
