The Semantic Fields of Baby Studies in Early Childhood Education: An Analysis of Academic Production in Brazilian Journal Articles

Resumo: The academic production on babies in day care centers in scientific research refers to a diversity of semantic fields with different epistemologies, theoretical and methodological issues that organize and fragment knowledge. The pedagogical work in day care centers still lacks dialogue with this academic production. The present study discusses the bibliographic production in journal articles that address questions about babies in day care centers. Searches were performed using the combination of the descriptors bebê or bebês and creche, berçário or educação infantil, in two databases: SCIELO and PePSIC, which identified 51 articles between 2007 and 2018. The production was concentrated in the last five years. The issues of child development are the most addressed in the studies, followed by the theme of interaction. Almost all articles report field research or present intervention research results. In conclusion, it is emphasized the need to leave the baby and the daycare as their own categories in the discussion of the results of the analyzed studies and their implications for the policies and practices in early childhood education.

El trabajo pedagógico en las guarderías aún carece de diálogo con esta producción académica. El presente estudio discute la producción bibliográfica en artículos de revistas que abordan preguntas sobre bebés en guarderías. Las búsquedas se realizaron utilizando la combinación de los descriptores bebê o bebês y creche, berçário o educação infantil, en dos bases de datos: SCIELO y PePSIC, que identificaron 51 artículos entre 2007 y 2018. La producción se concentró en los últimos cinco años. Los temas de desarrollo infantil son los más abordados en los estudios, seguidos del tema de interacción. Casi todos los artículos informan sobre investigaciones de campo o presentan resultados de investigaciones de intervención. En conclusión, se enfatiza la necesidad de dejar al bebé y la guardería como sus propias categorías en la discusión de los resultados de los estudios analizados y sus implicaciones para las políticas y prácticas en la educación de la primera infancia.A produção acadêmica sobre os bebês em creches nas pesquisas científicas remete a uma diversidade de campos semânticos com diferentes epistemologias, questões teóricas e metodológicas que organizam e fragmentam o conhecimento. O trabalho pedagógico em creches ainda carece de diálogo com essa produção acadêmica. O presente estudo discute a produção bibliográfica em artigos de periódicos que abordem questões sobre os bebês nas creches. Foram realizadas buscas utilizando a combinação dos descritores bebê ou bebês e creche, berçário ou educação infantil, em duas bases de dados: SCIELO e PePSIC, que identificaram 51 artigos entre 2007 e 2018. A produção se concentrou nos últimos cinco anos. As questões do desenvolvimento infantil são as mais abordadas nos estudos, seguidas da temática da interação. Quase todos os artigos relatam pesquisa de campo ou apresentam resultados de pesquisas de intervenção.
