Resumo: Cases of violence against women continue to grow and deaf women are unable to communicate and/or have communication limitations in the victim support network. To analyze the nurse's approach to the challenges of communication with deaf women victims of violence. This is a descriptive, exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The study was carried out with professional nurses from the Family Health Strategy teams in the urban and rural areas of the municipality of Iguatu, Ceará. The collection was carried out with 14 nurses through a link, which provided an electronic questionnaire on Google Forms, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee. The ethical normatizations of research involving human beings were followed. In view of the findings, it was realized that it is not common to carry out actions aimed at this public. The victim often seeks the health service accompanied by the aggressor himself, causing professionals to fear some kind of reprisals, making it even more difficult to assist deaf women. Conclusion: Unfortunately, professionals are not prepared to serve the deaf community, due to lack of knowledge about Brazilian Sign Language, and this weakness favors the reproduction of significant violence in their care.

In Derme; Vol. 97 No. 4 (2023): Out.
