The role of tutoring in the Pre-Service Mathematics Program for the Initial Years of Elementary School: an approach to the Distance Pedagogy at the Federal University of Santa Maria

Resumo: This work is an excerpt from the Master's Dissertation developed in the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education at the Federal University of Santa Maria and has as its theme the training of teachers. The objective was to studythe tutors’ perception of the Pedagogy course, distance modality, in relation to the subjects of Mathematics Education I and II. For this, different authors and perceptions on the subject were used. A qualitative approach and analysis form was also applied to the three tutors responsible for such disciplines. In the investigation, it was found that the tutor, as he is the one who follows the student's learning closely, is the one who identifies his difficultiesand has the possibility to suggest the reorganizing of the actions triggered in the such classes, if they are not meeting the student`s needs. This leads to the conclusion on the relevance of the tutor`s role in the initial training process in the distance modality.

El objetivo fue estudiar la percepción de los tutores de la carrera de Pedagogía, modalidad a distancia, en relación a las asignaturas de Educación Matemática I y II. Para ello se utilizaron diferentes autores y percepciones sobre el tema. También se aplicó una forma de abordaje y análisis cualitativo, con tres tutores de las asignaturas mencionadas. En la investigación se constató que el tutor, por ser quien acompaña de cerca el aprendizaje del estudiante, es quien identifica las dificultades del estudiante y tiene la posibilidad de sugerir la reorganización de las acciones desencadenadas en las disciplinas matemáticas, si no satisfacen las necesidades de los estudiantes. Lo que lleva a concluir sobre la relevancia de su papel en el proceso de formación inicial en la modalidad a distancia.Este trabalho é um recorte da Dissertação de Mestrado desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Matemática, da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria e tem como tema a formação de professores. O objetivo foi estudar a percepção das tutoras do curso de Pedagogia, modalidade a distância, em relação às disciplinas de Educação Matemática I e II. Para isso, utilizou-se diferentes autores e concepções sobre o tema. Também foi aplicado um formulário de abordagem e análise qualitativa a três tutoras das disciplinas citadas. Na investigação, constatou-se que o tutor, por ser quem acompanha o aprendizado do aluno de perto, é quem identifica as dificuldades dos acadêmicos e tem a possibilidade de sugerir a reorganização das ações desencadeadas nas disciplinas de Matemática, caso elas não estejam atendendo às necessidades dos discentes.
