Resumo: The study evaluates the performance of a nursing auxiliary course developed in a University Hospital. The aim is to identify positive and negative aspects of its functionning through the previous students opinion about: proposed objectives, duration of the course, subjects developed, theory and practice integration, practical lessons and the evaluation process. The data were collected through a sample of sixteen students that answered a questionnaire. The results showed that the evaluated course is well recognised by the community, although some suggestions indicate that we need to think about a best way of transmitting and internalising in the students the importance of theoretic background to a qualified professional performance.

Los dados fueron colectados en una populación de 16 alumnos que respondierón un cuestionario donde los resultados identificaron que el curso valuado es reconocido en la comunidad y esta alcanzando los objectivos junto a ella, pero, algunas sugestiones dadas nos llevan a repensar una mejor forma de transmitir y internalizar en el alumno la importanzia del embazamiento teorico para la formación profesional calificada.O estudo avalia o desempenho de um curso de auxiliar de enfermagem desenvolvido em um hospital de ensino, identificando aspectos positivos e negativos de seu funcionamento através da opinião de alunos egressos com relação ao alcance dos objetivos propostos, duração do mesmo, conteúdos ministrados, integração teoria x prática, estágios e processo de avaliação.
