Supervision of students’ practices by Physical Education teachers

Resumo: This study aimed to describe and analyze the supervision of students’ practices by teachers in Physical Education classes. Four teachers participated in this qualitative research-intervention study. The method of simple and cross self-confrontation from the Activity Clinic was used to analyze the supervision of the practices. The teachers watched the videos of their classes and talked about the different ways of acting during the supervision activity. Six episodes of teaching were described and analyzed. Different types of supervision of students’ practices were identified: silent observation, flash, stop and tracking interventions. The analysis promoted awareness of supervisory practices as well as the visualization of other ways of supervising students’ work, which may contribute to the expansion of teachers’ power to act in future teaching situations.

Cuatro maestros participaron en este estudio cualitativo de investigación-intervención. El método de confrontación simple y cruzada derivado de la Clínica de Actividad fue utilizado para analizar la supervisión de las prácticas. Los maestros vieron los videos de sus clases y hablaron sobre las diferentes formas de actuar durante la actividad de supervisión. Seis episodios de enseñanza fueron descritos y analizados. Se identificaron diferentes tipos de supervisión de las prácticas de los estudiantes: observación silenciosa e intervenciones realizadas por flash, parada y rastreo. El análisis promovió la conciencia de las prácticas de supervisión, así como la visualización de otras formas de supervisar el trabajo de los estudiantes, lo que puede contribuir a la expansión del poder de acción de los maestros para actuar en futuras situaciones de enseñanza.O presente estudo teve como objetivo descrever e analisar a supervisão das práticas dos estudantes pelos professores nas aulas de Educação Física. Quatro professores participaram deste estudo qualitativo, do tipo pesquisa-intervenção. O método da autoconfrontação simples e cruzada, oriundo da Clínica da Atividade foi utilizado para analisar a supervisão das práticas. Os professores assistiram os vídeos de suas aulas e dialogaram sobre as diferentes maneiras de agir durante a atividade de supervisão. Seis episódios de ensino foram descritos e analisados. Identificou-se diferentes tipos de supervisão das práticas dos alunos: observação silenciosa; intervenções por flash, por parada e por rastreamento.
