Digital information and communication technologies and distance education in teacher education: what innovation?

Resumo: The article brings the scenario of Distance Education in Brazil, presenting its expansion in offerings of courses and numbers of students enrolled. It points out that, at the center of this expansion are undergraduate courses and the need to overcome the exclusively instrumental use of digital resources, towards media literacy. The objective of the article is to discuss the influences and relationships of digital information and communication technologies and Distance Education in teacher education. How can these factors contribute to pedagogical innovation, based on a humanizing perspective of education? With a theoretical framework built on authors who are based on the need for critical and creative use of digital information and communication technologies, the authors dialogue with pedagogical innovation and media literacy to promote a promising scenario for distance education.

Il souligne que, au centre de cette expansion, se trouvent les cursus diplômants et la nécessité de surmonter l'utilisation exclusivement instrumentale des ressources numériques, vers l'éducation aux médias. L'objectif est de discuter des influences et des relations des technologies numériques de l'information et de la communication et de l'enseignement à distance dans la formation des enseignants. Comment ces facteurs peuvent-ils contribuer à l'innovation pédagogique, basée sur une perspective émancipatrice de l'éducation? Sur la base d'un cadre théorique, basé sur la nécessité d'une utilisation critique et créative des technologies de l'information et de la communication numériques, les auteurs dialoguent avec l'innovation pédagogique et l'éducation aux médias pour promouvoir un scénario prometteur pour l'enseignement à distance.O artigo traz o cenário da Educação a distância no Brasil, apresentando sua expansão em ofertas de cursos e números de ingressantes. Aponta que, no centro dessa expansão, estão os cursos de licenciatura e a necessidade da superação do uso exclusivamente instrumental dos recursos digitais, rumo à literacia midiática. O objetivo é discutir influências e relações das tecnologias digitais de informação e comunicação e da Educação a Distância na formação de professores. De que maneira esses fatores podem contribuir com a inovação pedagógica, fundamentada em uma perspectiva emancipadora de educação?
